Avoiding Scams & Frauds

• Deal with folks you can meet in person.
• Consider having a friend accompany you.
• Do not pay in advance for items.
• Beware if items are cheaper than normal or if the seller is encouraging you to buy quickly.
• Be especially careful when buying/selling high value items.
• Never wire funds via a wire service.
• Fake cashier checks & money orders are common. Avoid them.
• Never give out financial information (bank account, social security, PayPal, etc.)
